Varying forms of this Small Coat of Arms have been in use in Nuremberg since 1513, but this particular design has been in use in the city’s offices and agencies since 1939.
This seal hangs above the side entrance to the courthouse downtown, with the Great Coat of Arms hanging above the front entrance which faces the Hauptmarkt (main marketplace) square in the heart of the city.
Glühwein, also more commonly known as Mulled Wine, is a hot drink enjoyed during the Winter months of the year. It’s name in German translates directly to ”glow wine”, as it is made from red wine, various spies, sweetened with sugar, and heated to just below boiling point before serving. It can also be served cold. Mulled wines like this have a long history and date back to 500BC, when herbs and spices were added not only to improve taste, but also for health benefits. Glühwein has been described as “one of the first signs of fall”.
